We have over 100 years of combined experience in beekeeping and would like to help new beekeepers get started. Registering for this online course gives you access to these materials for 1 year.
Beekeeping can be thought of as more of an art than a science. We don’t have all the answers or do everything the same. Beekeeping will be an individually based experience depending on where your bees are and what you are keeping them for. It can be for pollination, producing queens, a honey source, environmental concerns, or just plain fun.
Beekeeping is a time commitment. The process of purchasing the necessary items (equipment, bees, etc.) through your first jar of a honey and winterization is a year-long process with no guarantee of the bees surviving or honey production. These amateur videos of past classes and documents will support you through this entire process, but it does not guarantee your bees will survive.
If you are interested in beekeeping yourself, we recommend 2 hives per season so that in case one does not survive, there is a backup. If you plan on raising bees, plan ahead. Typically bees need to be ordered in late winter and hived upon their arrival in Spring.
Refer to the document below to gain an understanding of the basic supplies needed for a beginning beekeeper. The cost varies, and these supplies are not included in this course.
